The ride started out on a descent most of the way to Ridgway. We had a great view of the San Juan mountain range.

There was still snow on the sides of the mountain which added to the spectacular site. Immediately as we started our exit from Ridgway, our first climb began. It was not overly steep but was a long climb to the top of Dallas Divide at an elevation of 8,970 which was over 2000 feet of climbing. We were rewarded with another downhill into Placerville only to start the second climb on a narrow state highway that didn’t have any shoulders all the way into Telluride. The last 4 or so miles were downhill into Telluride but before we could start the descent a rain storm hit and made this final distance a little challenging.

We are staying at the Christ Presbyterian Church. It is a great place and Reverend Pat and his wife Debbie Bailey opened their home for showers and laundry services. This was a great bonus in that all the camp sites in and around Telluride are on a first come first serve bases and impossible for a ride like ours.
