Last night it rained on us. Not a hard rain but steady. By the time we got up the rain had stopped but our tents were soaked.
We got around early and waited in camp before heading down the road to the Sunrise Cafe. It didn’t open until 7:00 a.m. so we had to wait outside until then. The café stick was to be rude. We called it the “attitude correction place” but we didn’t care since the food was very good. Before we got finished 16 of our riders had stopped there.
The morning was cool but pleasant. No real climbs and the roads were fair. The route had a lot of turns which would have been very difficult to follow without a Garmin. Ed had to stay on his toes and even then we had some minor back tracks. Before our second rest stop we had a heavy rain but we found a Mc Donald’s to get out of it, warm up, eat some lunch and let Ed charge his phone that has our route on it. As stated earlier without the route we would have had a hard time.
After leaving McDonald’s we stopped at our last rest stop to sign in. We rode into Cleveland and Ed was leading us through downtown to the Cleveland Hostel.
Going to our last turn of the day Ed was ahead of me and vehicle got between us. Ed pulled up to a light and stopped and I was stopping behind the vehicle between us when 2 young men started across the street in mid-block ahead of me. They were not paying attention to the traffic coming toward us and had I not yelled at them to watch out they would have walked right out in front of the oncoming truck.
When they stopped, just in time, one of said “my bad”. I thought “your bad” could have been your last statement.
All this time the rain was pouring down. We were having a hard time seeing thru the rain and we were completely soaked for the second time today.
As we were getting close to the Hostel we got on the sidewalk and some of our fellow riders ran out and yelled at us as we road by. Trip complete for the day.
