Osakis to Fergus Falls 58 miles

7/04/19

Today is the 4th of July and thanks to Kye’s delivery package yesterday I have a lot of items to decorate my bike and also myself.

As for myself Kye sent me a Bow Tie and temporary tattoos.

For my bike Kye sent me Patriotic Bows

After getting the decorations in place we ventured down to the local restaurant for breakfast.  We doubled the number of people in the restaurant with the 5 riders that stopped.  Others may have stopped later.

Then for the second day in a row we rode the bike path, this time for all day.  The total bike path amounted up to 110 miles.  I can’t begin to tell how enjoyable it was to ride on this trail.

When we rode thru Alexandria MN we discovered it was the “Birthplace of America”  I don’t know how this could be but how could I argue with a Viking?

Tonight we are staying in the Zion Lutheran church that was complete with a shower.  It can’t get much better than that.

The last chore for the day was laundry.  What made this easier was a segment of rider’s, that joined us 4 days ago, daughter met us today and had her car.  So she loaded us all up and drove us to the laundry.  What a treat.

Royalton to Osakis 55 miles

7/03/19

We had breakfast at camp which was provided by the lovely ladies last night. This was great because the first chance for breakfast was 21 miles down stream at Albany.

Today was a very enjoyable ride because most of the ride was on bike paths.

This made for a very relaxing day.  One thing that kept us on our toes was red squirrels that kept crossing the road in front of us and sometimes between us.

We also had to stop one time to move a tree that had fallen across the path.  This helped all the other riders since we were the first to pass the fallen tree. We pulled and broke it up until it made the path safe for all.

We got into Osakis around noon so we got to take nice warm showers in the high school.

Then we found a sports bar that had a great lunch.

For dinner a biker alumni brought us dinner.

This was also a mail drop day, so fun was had by all as we opened our treasures.  It was a lot of fun.

Kye sent me temporary  Fourth of July tattoos which I shared with everyone that doesn’t already have a permanent tattoo.  It was a big hit.

She also sent me some items to decorate my bike for the day.

Dalbo to Royalton 58 miles

7/02/19

As stated yesterday the Bicyclist Bunkhouse made us breakfast sandwiches which carried us over until we got to Milaca.  Here where we stopped for more breakfast.  It rained off and on all morning but finally let up just after our second rest stop on Morrill.

We ate lunch in Royalton before going to camp.  A lot of the team stayed at the sports bar to watch the US Ladies Soccer team participate in the World Cup.

We are camping at the Sportsman Club.  Some of the team went floating down the Mississippi before dinner.

Dinner was provided by the MS support people of Royalton.  It was great and we received testimonials from people that suffer from MS.
