Osakis to Fergus Falls 58 miles

7/04/19

Today is the 4th of July and thanks to Kye’s delivery package yesterday I have a lot of items to decorate my bike and also myself.

As for myself Kye sent me a Bow Tie and temporary tattoos.

For my bike Kye sent me Patriotic Bows

After getting the decorations in place we ventured down to the local restaurant for breakfast.  We doubled the number of people in the restaurant with the 5 riders that stopped.  Others may have stopped later.

Then for the second day in a row we rode the bike path, this time for all day.  The total bike path amounted up to 110 miles.  I can’t begin to tell how enjoyable it was to ride on this trail.

When we rode thru Alexandria MN we discovered it was the “Birthplace of America”  I don’t know how this could be but how could I argue with a Viking?

Tonight we are staying in the Zion Lutheran church that was complete with a shower.  It can’t get much better than that.

The last chore for the day was laundry.  What made this easier was a segment of rider’s, that joined us 4 days ago, daughter met us today and had her car.  So she loaded us all up and drove us to the laundry.  What a treat.

I would imagine that the Viking thing had something to do with Leif Erickson and the fact he set foot in what is now the United States before Christopher Columbus . He would have come in thru Canada and touched into the US in Minnesota.
