Rosenberg to Hallettsville 75

10/02/19

I met my new riding partner today in Rosenberg.  His name is Michael Moberly.  He is from Houston and he works for BP.  He has ridden in many MS 150s even one in Alaska.  He has put together a great plan for our ride to San Antonio.

We started at 7:30 a.m. which was sun rise.  This is my first time to carry all my gear so I had to be careful when I took off so I didn’t lose my balance.  It didn’t take long to get comfortable and I really didn’t notice the extra weight as much as I thought I would.  I guess part of that was due to everything being very flat for  a long while, but that is Houston.

We had 4  scheduled stops then our end in Hallettsville.  All of these stops were in very large cities, well maybe not.  You may have never heard of these towns before but here they are.  East Bernard, Eagle Lake, Rock Island (turn out this was a ghost town) and Sheridan.  In Sheridan we had a welcome wagon or rather tractor with a mower.  This tractor lead us right up to the rest stop store.  We felt right at home.

Our only other excitement was Michael’s flat tire right after a bridge.  No big deal but we did find this very large spider on the guard rail.

We completed our ride today at the town square in Hallettsville.  Here we found a very historic and large court house.

After checking into our hotel for the night we went to a local café for Mexican Food.

Then to bed without finishing my blog.  I guess I am out of shape and was just too tired.

Glad this ride is on mostly flat road! Beautiful courthouse in Hallettsville. Will have to go there sometime. Safe journey for you both!

I was just thinking about you and wondering when you would start your next adventure. Be careful out there and keep the rubber side down.
